マリオ・ランツァ没後50年を記念して、1950〜1957年に収録された映画やミュージカル、クラシック作品の名唱ばかり集めた、全盛期の輝かしい美声を堪能できるオリジナル・アルバム5枚分を収録したBOX。
　アメリカの名歌手、マリオ・ランツァ（1921-1959）は、フィラデルフィアでイタリア系移民の家庭に生まれ、ほぼ独学で歌を学び、名指揮者クーセヴィツキーに認められ、21歳で歌手としてデビュー。第2次大戦後はＭＧＭ映画と契約、「学生王子」など、多くの映画に出演して一躍スターとなりましたが、本格的オペラ歌手へと転身を図る途上、38歳で亡くなりました。（ソニー）
