今年2021年はストラヴィンスキーの没後50年...

今年2021年はストラヴィンスキーの没後50年にあたります。「20世紀を代表する10曲」を挙げるとすれば、当選確実の最右翼は「春の祭典」でしょう。それほどまでに「20世紀を代表する作曲家」でありながら、「３大バレエ」以外に演奏される曲は極端に少なくなります。ストラヴィンスキーは「カメレオン作曲家」といわれるように生涯に作風をいろいろ変えています。新しいものを求めて試行錯誤を繰り返したのでしょうが、結局は出世作「３大バレエ」を超えるものは作れなかったということなのでしょうか。ただし「人気」（特に音楽ビジネス上の）は勝ち得ていないにしても、ストラヴィンスキーは自己の能力と情熱を傾けてそれぞれの曲を作曲したはずなので、きちんと耳を傾けないのは失礼でしょう。 　そんな「３大バレエ」以外に目を向けるのに適したセットが、この Warner 盤（23枚組）と DG 盤（30枚組）でしょうか。 DG 盤は「全集」と銘打っており、おそらくあまり聞くことのない歌曲なども含まれますので、多少ボリュームの少ない（そして価格も）こちらのセットを選ぶのも大いにありだと思います。 　作曲者自身が最晩年にコロンビア交響楽団を指揮した22枚組の自作自演盤もありましたが現在廃盤のようです（ステレオ録音で音もよい）。 　没後50年の節目に、20世紀の音楽を俯瞰する視点からストラヴィンスキーの音楽を見直してみるのもよいでしょう。「３大バレエ」以外をお持ちでないなら、この際ぜひ聴いてみてはいかがでしょうか。（私は2015年に出た DG 盤のボックスを買ってしまったし、個別に持っている演奏も何枚かあるので、このセットは様子見です）
