ハルサイが空前の優秀録音です。切れ味も抜群です。アナログ時代と言うなかれ、が素直な感想です。アバド・ロンドンとデーヴィス・コンセルトヘボウと共に（この２つもアナログ）最優秀録音・演奏だと思います。デジタル初期よりもアナログ後期の方が素晴らしい録音が多かった気がします。

展覧会の絵は、学生時代度肝を抜かれた思い出のCDです。金管楽器の、とてつもない音圧と輝きに感激したことは今でも忘れられないです。さてもう一つショルティ盤で素晴らしい瞬間があります。キエフの大門の最後のほうで、ぐんぐん弦楽器が盛り上げる個所がありますね。その時、ヴァイオリンの（おそらく）1stが、主旋律を実に魅力的に「歌って」上り詰める一瞬があるのです。他の盤では、このように歌っている演奏は、私の知る限りありません。演奏自体大好きな、同オケのジュリーニ盤でもこんなことはしていません。また、カタコンブでのハーセス師の極上のソロ。この箇所のハーセス師のソロはジュリーニ盤の方が私の好みではありますが、ショルティ盤でも男気のようなものを感じさせる剛毅さが凄いです（あとは、スヴェトラーノフ＝ソヴィエト国立盤のソロも甘く美しく忘れ難いですが、このTpは誰なのでしょうね？）。昔出ていたロンドンのカップリングとは違いますが、この展覧会の絵は廃盤にしてはもったいないです。

初めにお断りしておきたいのですがこのレビューを書き込む際HMVサイドのシステムメンテナンス時間帯だった為レビュー受付がダブってされているかもしれませんのでその場合はご容赦下さい。さて本題、CSOにとって重要なレパートリーというか当楽団との録音話で各指揮者が取り上げ易い「展覧会の絵」、古くは1951年のクーベリックからライナー、小澤、秋山、ジュリーニ、ショルティ、アバド、ヤルヴィ等々での録音盤があるようです。ショルティに到っては1981年ライブ盤や1990年収録LDなどもかつてあったということです。ブロムナードテーマのトランペッターが本盤演奏1980年位まで同一人であったとも伝えられてもおり、確かにCSOのややダイナミック・メカニカルな音色と完璧なアンサンブルそれにショルティの統率があれば相当レベルの演奏が出来上がり後はその演奏への聴く者の好みということになってこようかと思われます。1980年録音の本盤演奏は所謂ロシア指揮者によるような土俗っぽいものではなくかと言って洒落てはいないけれどシャープな感じを持ちました。演奏タイムとしては33’32とそんなに長く引っ張ったという印象は持ちませんが各曲の色合い分けが鮮明で先ずもたれず聴く事が出来ました。私はラブェル「クープランの墓」(15’59)とのセット盤で聴いていますので本盤収録曲で「展覧会の絵」以外は未聴であります。そういうことも勘案しても素晴らしいランクは確保したいですね。(タイムについては盤により多少異なる場合があります)
