Product Description

Die Fledermaus is today regarded as the supreme epitome of Viennese operetta and it enjoys an international popularity at both professional and amateur level. However, at the time of it's premiere in Vienna at the Theater an der Wien on 5 April 1874, while it was well-received it ran to just sixteen performances. It achieved much greater success in Berlin, Hamburg and Paris before it returned to Vienna when it did achieve great success, a success which has endured ever since. A tradition has also grown up around the operetta - especially in Vienna - of performing the work on New Year's Eve with guest stars appearing in Act 2.

ヨハン・シュトラウスの喜歌劇『こうもり』はウィンナ・ワルツが満載でメロディーも良い上に、作品そのものの出来が良く、意図的に酷くしない限り誰がやってもある程度は良い仕上がりになる恵まれた作品だと思います。 それ故か昔から著名な指揮者による録音が多く、このカール・ベームがウィーン・フィルハーモニー管弦楽団を指揮して録音したアルバムも昔から名盤として名高い音源でした。 ベームの音楽は個人的にあたりはずれが大きな演奏家だと思いますが、これはあたりだと思います。 同じベームが指揮したシュトラウスのワルツ集ではリズムが鈍重なだけに思えましたが、ここでもそうした重さこそある物の往年のウィーン・フィルの柔らかな美しい響きとデッカの優れた録音のサポートもあって充実した演奏がなかなか様になっています。 そして歌手陣。 近い時期にEMIに録音されたボスコフスキー盤ぐらいにキャストが良いです。 録音ならではの豪華キャストといった所です。 全曲盤ですがセリフがないため時折ハイライト盤を聴いている気分になります。 尚、私が持っている国内盤は楽曲解説やオペレッタの筋書きはある物の歌詞の記載はありません。 音質は年代を考えれば十分でしょう。

鈍重なベームがプラスに働いた好例。クライバーのような典雅さが死んでしまう演奏、クラウスのようにダラダラ色気だけの演奏よりずっといい。適度に引き締まって美感が出る。歌を抜いて伴奏だけでも聴きたいくらい。キャストは最高。ヴェヒターは当然最高だが、クメントもヴィントガッゼンもいい。特筆するならホレチェクとホルム。ホルムの気品なんか、みんな素通りしちゃうんだろうなぁ。

ひたすら重く面白味の無い演奏。例えば第一幕アイゼンシュタイン、ロザリンデ、アデーレの三重唱は、表面的な悲しみより心内の浮き立つ気持ちが表現されるべきだが、それが感じられない。また、第二幕シャンパンの歌は、リズムが弾まず楽しさが乏しい。その後のポルカ「雷鳴と電光」も重く弾まない。Ｃ・クラウスのこれぞ優雅、粋という演奏で口直しをしたい衝動にかられる。
