Bluesy hard-bop saxophonist Stanley Turrentine contributed to some of Blue Note's landmark albums and though, like fellow hard-bopper Hank Mobley, he never quite got the recognition he deserved he recorded a string of classic Blue Note albums in the late 60s - of which this is arguably one of the finest.

A stonking set with arrangements by Duke Pearson and a stellar band featuring the likes of McCoy Tyner and Blue Mitchell, Turrentine never-the-less hogs the solo spotlight to himself and is in blistering form throughout.
