アンディ・デイヴィスとジェームス・ウォーレンによって、1969年に英ブリストルで結成。”田舎のビートルズ” とも称されたビートルズフォロワー＝ビートリッシュの大本命バンド、スタックリッジ。

ジョージ・マーティン制作による1974年の３rdアルバム『The Man in the Bowler Hat (山高帽の男)』が、とりわけビートルズ〜パワーポップファンに愛されている彼らの初期２枚のアルバムがボーナストラックを多数追加した拡大盤で再発。

今回再発されるのは、71年のデビュー作『Stackridge』、72年の２ndアルバム『Friendliness (友情)』の２タイトルで、いずれも朴訥としたポップセンスが心地よい名盤だ。『The Man in the Bowler Hat』への布石となった『Friendliness』は、12曲ものボーナストラックが追加されたCD２枚組で登場。
