From the mean streets of L.A. to fog on the Tyne!

The beautiful game gets the beautiful soundtrack in Danny Cannon's Goal! and, just as you'd expect from a film set around Premiership club Newcastle United, the majority of the 14 tracks seem to come from... Manchester.

This may be geographical musical dyslexia but when the upfront pairing are Oasis and The Happy Mondays, it's tough to argue. The Gallagher brothers are the centrepiece, with the previously unreleased Who Put The Weight Of The World On My Shoulders? proving again that Noel has a craftsmen's touch with acoustic balladry, while old favourites Morning Glory and Cast No Shadow get fresh remixes. As for the reformed Mondays, new track Playground Superstar shows that there's still few to match them when it comes to funky revelry.

Ambient acid-jazzers Zero 7 contribute the relaxed-yet-classy Look Up (very Chris Waddle), while Unkle's pulsing Blackout has more intensity than a Lee Bowyer tackle. This is one soundtrack that's bound to be the talk of the toon.

あーちきしょう。日本盤出るなんて思ってなかった・・・。輸入盤買うんじゃなかったよぉ。というか、「Who put〜」はリアムでも歌えた気がするんだけどな。
