Product Description

1. Love Me Do A Beatles classic; fun, simple, a bit bluesy, with slightly strange lyrics that connect. Mark and Fran sing the duet, with Bob adding a high harmony on PLEA...

EA... EA... EASE . The instrumental breaks get stretched out and everyone gets a piece. 2. The End of the World A sad ballad made famous in the 1960's by Skeeter Davis, no relation to Mark. She was a pioneer for country female vocalists and had many popular songs both on the country and pop charts. 3. Young Man Whenever Fran writes a new song, his son inevitably asks, Is this a real song or did you make it up? So Fran wrote this one for his son. Any questions? 4. Liberte It's the Slograss way to try any type of music we can, so here's our version of gypsy music. We let Fran soar and pretend he's a flamenco player. As for the dancing part--well, you'll just have to use your imagination. 5. I'll Be Your Baby Tonight Dylan has written a lot of great love songs ... and this is one of them. 6. Death Letter Blues Songs about death have always been a part of bluegrass - this high energy number is a perfect example of how much fun we can have singing about even the darkest of subjects. 7. Footprints of Time The first original song from Mark that we've done. It's a love song structured by the seasons using chords with numbers in them. 8. Walls of Time A haunting tune that's a real blast to play. So much so, that we decided to include it on this recording. 9. The Old Rugged Cross - A classic church hymn that we learned for a performance during the Easter season. Fran lends a nice duet harmony to Bob's lead. 10. Ring Of Fire We were asked to sing this song at a bizarre wedding a few years ago. We had fun performing it as the bride and groom danced in a large warehouse-like building on the beach in Western Connecticut that had a huge carousel at one end. Several times during the reception all the guests hopped onto the horses and rode in circles as the carousel's organ blasted music. 11. Heartaches Come A Dime A Dozen Our good friend Rick writes about good love gone bad. Fortunately, this song is pure fiction and bears no resemblance on Rick's personal life! 12. Dogwood Tree Fran learned this from Dianne one summer at Thomas Point Beach - it offers a poignant perspective on the classic gospel theme. 13. Back To Where I Don't Belong This song was originally recorded by Phil on his first solo recording, then re-recorded when he was with the great bluegrass band, The Seldom Scene, on the recording they did with Jonathan Edwards. Bob arranged this song using elements from both versions along with his own spin. 14. Love and Liberte David's wife Natalie introduced him to the Gipsy Kings' passionate music and this wonderful melody. Before we knew it, the tune became their wedding theme. Perhaps the enigmatic title suggests the liberating power of true love.
