Product Description

Disc Introduction Grass doesn't try to grow, It grows. - Deepak Chopra If someone told me a year ago that I would write the lyrics to eight songs, and then ask my friend Brian Shaker to arrange, play and sing the songs, I would say nooo way, but that's what happened. It was a unique experience for me because those are my lyrics. That is how I truly feel inside and to hear them in music form is like listening to my sub-conscious sing. Strange! Working with Brian was amazing not just because he arranged, sang and played the songs, but it was his sensitivity to the lyrics. He mirrored my feelings with the melody, and his amazing guitar skills. He captured and emphasized the meaning. His dedication told me that this was something that was meant for both of us. One person described our music like a melting pot, a little bit of rock, blues, country, hip-hop, etc. I thought, a little bit of everything; that's how we make soups. So the style seems appropriate, but it's whether you like the songs. I cannot guarantee you'll like the songs, but I will make this one comment. At least one tune will get stuck in your head. I thank you for purchasing our disc instead of waiting for the Broadway musical. You can email Bobettes.com with your comments, but please remember this, we tried. Thank you! Gary, Brian, Bobette and the Gang from Bobettes Takeout Bistro. Song Narrative 1. Bowl & a Roll is an item on our menu which became humorous lingo among our customers. It was a simple song which has become very popular. Now, Bowl and a Roll gets stuck in our heads when customers order a bowl and a roll. 2. Hungry is the most common word expressed by a customer when they come in for lunch. In fact, the phrase, I'm hungry, what am I gonna eat, is the most common phrase other than talking about the weather. However, after doing the first verse, the song started to take on a bigger meaning. How about the people who are hungry and cannot afford food? And with the world population increasing and our resources decreasing, there is definitely going to be a food shortage. So the next time you're hungry, well, you know the phrase. 3. Howz About a Connecticut Chowder is the first song I ever wrote, and it's because of the Newport Chowder Cook-Off. I sat down and wrote about what had happened the day of the Newport Chowder Cook-Off. It was like therapy; it put things in prospective. The strange thing was is that I heard music while I was writing things down. First time that ever happened. 4. She's Got the Soup was Bobette's birthday present. I told Brian that I wrote a sexy, bluesy soup song for Bobette. He looked at me as if to say, sexy, bluesy and soup should not be in the same sentence. But he did it and it seemed to worked. 5. Cash Is King is about credit cards. When we started accepting credit cards 10% of our cash changed to credit. Five years later credit cards make up about 45% of our business. We'd rather have the cash. It is my rapping debut. Brian referred to me as Ice G, the rapper without attitude. 6. Mom & Pop Blues is a song every Mom & Pop place will relate with. You think it's easy but this is the way it is. 7. I Just Wanna Be... is a song about wanting to be healthy. The song was written at the time The Farmer's Cow partnered up with us in Newport, R.I. They are a fine upstanding Connecticut business, so we used them as a reference of being healthy. 8. All About You is a song about our customers and how intertwined we are.
