Product Description

Finding inspiration in Western soundtracks, post-apocalyptic literature, and the geography of the Pacific Northwest, Scriptures' all-instrumental music skillfully weaves together psychedelic, folk, metal, surf, Western, and Eastern elements into a cohesive sound that is unquestionably unique. Scriptures' three-song EP, The Hunters, is a tour de force, musical narrative of life and death in the wilderness that serves as a bridge between their 2012 eponymous release and forthcoming LP. The Hunters was recorded in Seattle, WA by Jackson Long at Hear Me Shimmer, mixed by John Herman at StateBird, mastered by Blake Bickel at Dynamic Sound Service and released by Lanthanide Series. Scripture's previous self-titled, full-length album was described as Navigating between the dusty starkness of Nick Cave and Warren Ellis' soundtracks for The Assassination of Jesse James and The Proposition, the icy expanse of Growing's The Sky's Run Into The Sea, the lurching crunch of early Pelican, and hypnotic propulsion of Pharaoh Overlord, . . . [and shifting] gears between various moods and dynamics with a fluid, haunting grace (The Stranger). A reviewer from The Independent stated, The quintet's eponymous full-length debut sounds like the score to a Cormac McCarthy novel made into a blood-soaked, sepia-toned Western. In that same vein, Scriptures has played shows in Seattle and surrounding areas sharing the stage with bands such as Earth, Arbouretum, Master Musicians of Bukkake, Midday Veil, Pontiak, Eternal Tapestry, The Curious Mystery, La Luz, and Kinski.
