ピエモンテージは現時点で発売されている録音が地味でコンサバティブなイメージを与えますが、実はキレキレの技巧を持ったなんでも弾きこなすタイプの、現代若手・中堅の中でもっと注目してよいピアニストだと思っています。このシューマンを聴いてもそれが良く分かります。シューマンのピアノ協奏曲というのはこれ見よがしな超絶技巧はないものの、ピアニストの技巧や音色コントロールのレベル感が最も顕著に表れる曲だとつくづく思います。有名動画サイトにはピエモンテージが弾くストラヴィンスキー「火の鳥」のピアノ編曲版の動画がありますが、驚異的な演奏です。ノーブルでかつ超絶技巧。
