日本はおろか海外でもチャートを賑わしているという、由紀さおりとPink Martini のコラボレーション・アルバム『1969』がコチラ。
リーダーのトーマス・ローダーデール率いる12人編成のオーケストラ・グループ“Pink Martini ”、そのトーマス・ローダーデールが由紀さおりのLP『夜明けのスキャット』を中古レコード屋で発見したことが元々のきっかけとなり、その後Pink Martini のアルバム『Hey Eugene！』で『夜明けのスキャット』収録曲「タ・ヤ・タン」をカヴァー、さらに2010年11月発売のPink Martini 『Joy To The World 』に収録の楽曲「ホワイト・クリスマス」に、日本語での歌唱で由紀さおりが参加。この出会いを経て、今回このコラボレーション・アルバム『1969』が実現したとのこと。
「1969年に発表・もしくはその時代を象徴する洋邦問わずの名曲をカヴァーする」というコンセプトで吟味された楽曲に、由紀さおりの歌声とPink Martini の演奏で新たな意匠を施します。
ボーナストラックとして収録の「季節の足音」は、2011年発表の由紀さおりオリジナル曲。
