スウェードの同名デビュー･アルバムは、兄との近親同性愛をエロく歌った｢ザ･ドラウナーズ｣、肉体と精神を切り売りする女を思いっきり皮肉った｢メタル･ミッキー｣等ヒット曲を含む全12曲入り。グラム色バリバリの音作り、バカ売れしたシングル同様の過激な歌詞がそそる。異常性愛、動物偏愛なんていう澁澤チックな言葉やバイセクシャルな快楽を歌ったものなど、キリスト教圏では騒がれそうなものばかり。歌詞に比べて、サウンドがややインパクトに欠けているのが、ちょっと残念。
