With Star Trek now fully in its stride and the Enterprise Universe of characters and villains now fully realised the show was free to explore the lives of the crew as well as throwing in some very clever and inventive stories. 'Yesterday's Enterprise' is a perfect example of the series clever use of alternate dimensions, as the crew come face to face with an alternative Enterprise that was thought to have been destroyed many years ago. 'Deja Q' is of course another encounter with the pesky Q, who this time has been stripped of his powers and is now appealing to Picard for help. Virtually every character has their own episode from Troi's mother appearing in 'Menage A Troi' to Worf's discovery of an unknown brother in 'Sins Of The Father'. The series ends with 'The Best Of Both Worlds: Part 1' a thrilling Borg episode which ends on a cliffhanger, a device that would become traditional from the rest of the shows life.
