ドイツを本拠地として活動するサックス奏者、ロマン･オット。ベルリンの音楽院を卒業後、2003年に自己のバンド'イナー･シェイプ'を結成、07年にファースト･アルバムをリリースしました。本作はそれに続くもので、念願のFresh Sound New Talentからのリリースです。ジョン･コルトレーンとウェイン･ショーターなど主にテナー･サックス奏者を尊敬するというだけに、ロマンのアルト･サックスは骨太でたくましく、ちょっと聴いた感じではテナーに聴こえるほど。(6)ではショーターと並ぶ60年代モード･ジャズの巨匠、ジョー･ヘンダーソンの定番を爽やかに料理しています。また9曲中5曲に、いまや大物の座を獲得した名手カート･ローゼンウィンケルが参加。素晴らしいギター･プレイで彩りを添えています。(Jazz Yellより）
