Born A Mountain

August 22, 2012, San Diego, California. Thanks and credits belong to many people. Most recently Rick Kaylor has been my friend and musical partner for the last three years. He graciously helped master these 13 songs. Thank you Jeff Bertino and Mike Stubblefield for inspiring me. Thanks to the friends of the Poway Folk Circle and the San Diego Bluegrass Society. Working backwards in time, I am grateful to my wife and sons. Sadly my parents are gone. My father and mother were wonderful and supportive. My father helped me with sage advice when I built a recording studio in San Diego a long time ago. Then there is Tim Scott, Jon Sandoval and a host of lost friends and musicians who helped make this collection of songs. If you buy the CD, credits are listed besides the songs. Several musicians unselfishly contributed to four productions on this album. I need to recognize Fred Diether, who recorded this material around 1976. Back then is was tape and analogue. His gold record experience was invaluable. And yes, you may have noticed some vocal similarity to Neil Young, whom I owe thanks. I worked for him for a few years and tuned and repaired his pianos. It's clear he profoundly influenced me. Thanks to my old friend, David Cline. As one of Neil's managers, he hired me to tune and repair his pianos.
