Product Description

It's amazing what you remember. In the month of march 2009 I got a phone call from my brother Reggie. I was on the job. I was on a break. A grey 2007 Caddy stopped in front of the shop. There was an old man sitting in the drivers seat. 'Meet Me On The Moon' was blasting from his radio. I thought...'now, there's something you don't see twice a day!!'. My cell rang. 'She's gone'. This was probably the shortest conversation we've ever had. At least I think it was. I really don't remember. I couldn't tell you what happened after that. I don't remember how I got home but, I do remember being there at some point. I was there when the thought occurred to me....'my God, he wants ME to tell our sister!!' Beyond needing to begin the journey through my own grief, this would be the single most difficult thing I have ever had to do. The events that followed were (to say the least) intense. When we spoke after the funeral we found ourselves talking about things that we hadn't thought of in years. Times that were saturated with laughter...moments spent crying...

The thing we kept coming back to was the last time the whole family had been together doing what we seemed to do best-clowning and singing. My sister, with incredible recall described those moments as if they were unfolding in front of us right there and then. It's amazing what you remember. We didn't say so then but we were thinking the same thing. Wouldn't it be nice if we could have one more day together of clowning and singing? I remembered my mother. In that moment as within every moment since I longed for one more glance....another dance with her unconquerable soul. This music was written originally to assist my sister with the process of grief as it related to the passing of our mother. Along the way, I found that creating the material was quite therapeutic for me also. All of the songs were written on the way to the session or completely at the session. On some days I literally went in; sat down at the piano and played whatever I felt in my soul. I would write lyrics while sitting in the car on my laptop and I'd go into the session to record them when I was done. Honestly, I don't think my engineer even knew! I did this because I wanted the sound of music to be raw and real so, it was very important to me to convey within the moment true emotions as they occurred. So, here it is. Honest, open, raw and reverent. I pray you are able to extract from this work some note or phrase...some idea that you can identify with. Let's spend some time together...remembering those angels who lived among us that have left their legacies with us. For a few moments, let's dance together again with them in the Peaceful Bayou. Enjoy! RT.
