Product Description

Digitally remastered and expanded edition of the legendary debut solo album from the former Soft Machine member. Recorded in August 1970 whilst Wyatt was still a member of SM, his first solo outing was a blend of Jazz and Experimental music that he had pioneered on his composition 'Moon in June' on Soft Machine's Third album. The sessions for this album saw Robert Wyatt joined by guests such as Dave Sinclair of Caravan and Soft Machine alumni Mark Charig and Elton Dean. This reissue has been newly remastered from the original master tapes and features a booklet that fully restores all original album artwork with a new essay.

個人的にはこのソロ1stの混沌具合も大好き。 この後、歌に比重が置かれていくようになるけど、それでもちゃんとここと繋がっている感じがする。

本作はジャズ・ロックというより、アヴァンギャルド・ジャズだと思う。ギターレスで、ベースもコントラバスのピッツィカートであり、オルガンも少ししか出てこないので、ロック色はほとんどない。フリー・ジャズが苦手な人には魅力を感じにくい作品。

やられた！初めて彼のソロを聴いたんだけど、一曲目からぶっ飛びました。エレクトリックマイルスを思わせるジャズロック。ドラムが叩けなくなった後の他のアルバムはどんな感じなんでしょ？
