Grammy winning singer/songwriter Rick Springfield releases his New Door Records/UME debut album VENUS IN OVERDRIVE. This album marks his first full-length new studio work of original material since 2003's critically acclaimed, SHOCK/ DENIAL/ANGER/ACCEPTANCE. VENUS IN OVERDRIVE was recorded in 32 days by Springfield and his band. Co-producing and co-writing the album is Matt Bissonette, his longtime bass player. Also on board are renowned rock mixers Chris Lord-Alge and Matt Wallace who shaped a great sound out of Springfield's material.

ようやくリリースされる国内盤。近年のアルバムの中では久々のヒットとなったのもうなずける快作。オープニングから、まさにRICKはこうでなければ…といえる名曲も。『HARD TO HOLD』を彷彿させてくれる力作。

アメリカ本国で売れただけあります。良質のメロディックロック。5年前位前？に来日(日本青年館)した時、観に行きメチャクチャ盛り上がったのを思い出します。還暦のオヤジなのだが、かっこよすぎ!

ギターがハーフミュートでエイトを刻むM1にリックファンならずとも、皆痺れるはず！！ 58歳にして、そして銘盤「rock of life」から20年目にしてこれほどシンプルで力強くすばらしいアルバムを作ってくれたことに心から感謝したい。リックの初期から現在までのどの時代のアルバムのファンであっても受け入れられるアルバムだ！！リック万歳！！ビルボード総合28位は当然！！というより10以内でもおかしくない！！祈！！国内版発売！！！
