Product Description

We can really relate to the Band, how they were inspired by the Big Pink. Our source of inspiration could be called the Big Maroon, it is an old loghouse in the middle of the Finnish woods. Every song on Cape Wolf found it's form there. Basic recording was done there, live, on a 32-track Korg. Goblin's Inn is based on an ancient folk tale of a mysterious enchanted fiddler who played with such intensity, that listeners simply couldn't stop dancing. Douchebag Heart is about a dear but notoriously untrustworthy friend. Tales of Broken Shadows is a series of scetches that together form a menacing presence. Days of Pushing Daisies says: I might be dead, but I've never been happier. Do not read any hidden meanings into the song... Flowers tells a story, not unlike Tangled Up In Blue. Not that we compare our songwriting to the art His Bobness has produced. And no, King Lear of the Serpent's Head is not Shakespearean in any way. Moral of the story might be: if religion really is the opium of the masses like K.

Marx famously quipped, then Jesus must be the ultimate pusherman. Cape Wolf rag has some very nice guitar and mandolin sounds. The tune is really based on an old Salvation Army song. But the copyright must be exhausted by now, so we stole it. Think nothing of it, Dylan does it all the time. We Will Always Be Lovers is an enigma. It is NOT a love song, it must be emphasized. Strange People started as a lyrical exercise. You may notice that every verse has the same pair of rhymes (shark, bark, park, lark, ark, dark). It really needs yet another verse with rhymes like hark & mark. Later, perhaps. Sincerely Yours is a silly song. But the image of the formerly rich countess lying in the gutter is haunting. Crazy George is based on a true story. The place was Wexford, Ireland. And George was a guy that folks revered, even feared. Perfect Traveller is, or course, an adaptation of the couple of lines in Tao-Te-King describing the virtues of the Perfect Traveller. The ancien Chinese said in two lines what took us a five-minute song. Oh well. We hope you'll enjoy listening to Cape Wolf. We sure had a good time recording it. And yes, the Big Maroon is built on a place called Susiniemi. That's Cape Wolf in Finnish. Voikaa hyvin, hyvt ystvt. Redhill Rats.
