Founded 1995 Red Hot has been ever since ranked among the best modern rockabilly bands hailed from Finland. The Red Hot guys have always been serious fans of Robert Gordon and Danny Gatton so it is only natural the band has modeled their sound after their idols. Any guitarist will tell you that copying Gatton's licks is a major task. When listening to Tommy Lyijynen it is easy to say that we have a world class guitar ace backing the lead singer Paul Kallonen, who's voice is much similar to Robert Gordon's in timbre and range. With the rhythm section of drummer Pekka Seppl and bassist Mika Railo we have here a truly impressive quartet of musicians. It is no surprise that the New York's finest, Mr. Robert Gordon himself, has booked Red Hot to back him on several live appearances across Europe. Their first show together was in June 2002 and since then Red Hot has been backing Robert Gordon almost every time he is touring Europe. Red Hot's album 'Usual Thing' from 2001 is filled with superb new original songs written by Paul Kallonen. The few carefully chosen cover songs, like Marshall Crenshaw's 'Wasting My Time' and Johnny Burnette Trio's 'Rock Therapy', are icing on the cake. BLR 3375 2 (P)(C) Bluelight Records 2001.
