Product Description

Composer, arranger & producer Rahman Altin's impeccable original score for the feature film The Butterfly's Dream is performed here beautifully by The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Miriam Nemcova, with solo piano parts played by the composer himself. The music is lush and romantic as one might expect from a film (based on a true story) that centers on two young poets who fall in love with the same young woman in 1940's Turkey. Although the music stands alone and would be the perfect complement to an intimate evening, it also reflects the innocence of the characters and the times, as well as the many vicissitudes that the young poets encounter with the world enveloped in the throes of World War II. Alternately minimally introspective and generously robust, the story and the music encompass the social class tensions and religious barriers of the time and mirrors the tragic trajectory of the principal characters. Like the theme of the title cut and many of the variations and additional lyrical motifs that follow, this soundtrack is as memorable and remarkable as the epic story that the motion picture recounts.
