Grown and harvested in the heart Illinois, Prairie State Heartache began their musical endeavor together in the spring of 2010 with the mere anticipation of using the band as a recreational vehicle for entertainment while passing idle time. The group quickly evolved from piecing together melodies and riffs during countless late nights to performing live, as a band, for local audiences in their hometown of Springfield, Illinois. Through the ongoing desire to connect outwardly and play for live audiences, the band began creating a stir in the local music scene and found a much clearer vision and direction. While still in their early days as a band, interest from platinum recording producer, Rick Beato (Shinedown, Needtobreathe, Corey Smith) sparked and Prairie State Heartache found themselves heading south to Georgia to record their first e.p. The album, comprised of two year's worth of work as a group, showcases a small collection of songs about love, life and growth through heartfelt lyrics and sharp studio performances. The recorded selections highlight elements of folk, rock, pop, blues and country, while painting a musical landscape of contemporary Americana, mirroring Prairie State's cultural roots. Prairie State Heartache is fronted by lead vocalist and songwriter, Jonathan Cour. Over the years, Jonathan has travelled the country to work with some of the music industry's hottest producers and most decorated songwriters including Desmond Child (Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Kelly Clarkson), Annie Roboff (Faith Hill, Tim McGraw), Zac Maloy (Carrie Underwood, Blake Shelton), and Ted Bruner (Katy Perry, My Darkest Days). As Prairie State Heartache, Cour is joined by hometown friends, Granville Helm, Justin Angel and his cousin, Andrew Shackelford. The road less traveled has taken these four musicians on a journey of life, love and growing pains with only the promise of more to come as they work together to make their own path in the musical landscape.
