Peter Gabriel revitalized his career and scored one of the most critically and commercially successful albums of the 80s with his 1986 release So, which is being re-released in an expanded 25th Anniversary Edition on Oct. 2015. Launched by the enormous success of the lead single Sledgehammer and its innovative music video still MTVs most-played clip of all time So was a worldwide hit, reaching No. 1 in the U.K., Canada, Italy, and Holland and No. 2 in the U.S. and Germany. The album also includes Gabriel classics like In Your Eyes, the Kate Bush duet Dont Give Up and Big Time, Gabriels parody of 80s excess.

オリジナル盤発売年は、非常に良く聴いたアルバムです。同時期にpeter gabrielの古巣、genesisもヒットアルバムを出していたので、両方続けて聴いたりしてました。今回は25周年記念盤という事で、デモ音源やライブ盤等もプラスされた豪華な仕様で発売されて嬉しかったです。いつから変わったか知らないのですが、この商品は曲順がオリジナル盤と少し違います。最初は違和感ありましたが、in your eyesで終わる構成は良いですね。先述のデモ音源を纏めたCDも非常に興味深く聞きました。廃盤になる前にボックスセットの購入をお勧めします。

このアルバムを買われる方はぜひアテネライブ（２枚組み）つきのスペシャルエディションを買われてください． Plays Live とはまた違った，スレッジハンマーの大ヒットで乗りに乗った当時のピタガブのライブが聴けます． SO 以降にファンになった方にはむしろアテネライブの方が聴きやすいかもです． そして Growing Up Live や Secret World Live といった映像作品も鑑賞してください． 小生は映像はDVDで入手したのですが今では Blu Ray が割と手頃な値段で買えます．一度はまると抜け出せないピタガブの魅力を是非知っていただきたいです．

レコードの製造クオリティが低すぎです。最初に頂いたうちの２枚目の方に割と大きな部分反りがあり交換を申し入れたところ快く対応頂きました、HMVさんには感謝致しますが、交換品の方も多少なりとも反りが有りました。EU製とのことですが製造クオリティが低すぎです。両方ともマトリックスCとなっていましたが、Cマトはそんなもんなのでしょうか、内容は素晴らしいだけに残念です。Dont give up は当方が所持している８６年オリジナル１２インチEPとマスターの違いがよく判りました。
