Whilst still very firmly ensconced within a classic pop structure, Chris Lowe and Neil Tennant's latest recording can be seen as representing a whole new development in Pet Shop Boys' stylistic range. Reflecting a more 'back to basics approach', 'Release' - the duo's first full-length release in approximately three years - features a simpler stripped down sound that focusses more on melody and lyrics rather than the big dance-based sound of old. Gone are the trademark electronic beats, pointy hats and dry, smartass lyrics - in are guitar-led melodies (courtesy of ex-Smiths and long-time PSB collaborator Johnny Marr) and some truly brilliant songwriting. Includes the single 'Home And Dry'.

２００２年の名盤であり、個人的には彼らの作品のベストである！それまでの彼らからは想像できないアコースティックな作りでありながら、聴き込むうちに引き込まれるサウンドは、正しくペットショップの真骨頂！『ザ・ナイト・アイ・フェール・イン・ラヴ』は前作の中の『In Denial (featuring Kylie Minogue)』と対をなす名曲！更にはジョニー・マーとご愛嬌のニールのギターが素晴らしいです！

真夏の夕闇、初夏の黄昏時のような爽やかな涼やかさを感じさせる逸品。氷砂糖のようにひんやりと心地よいﾆｰﾙのﾎﾞｰｶﾙとｴﾚｸﾄﾘｯｸでありつつもｵｰｶﾞﾆｯｸさをたたえた名曲群。きいてみて！

I can not say anymore good things about this album. From the hauntingly beautiful lyrics of Home ＆ Dry to the bittersweet closing You Choose, everything in between is about life’s love ＆ lost. What a great way to spend 45 minutes with the Boys.
