Originally commissioned by Magdalen College Oxford to commemorate the 550th anniversary of the foundation of the college in 1998, 'Ecce Cor Meum (Behold My Heart)' is an Oratorio written for Magdalen College Choir, Oxford by Sir Paul McCartney.

It is scored for choir and orchestra and there are four movements, each of which begins with unaccompanied voices and the text combines both English and Latin. The music is full of colour and drama and, of course, a wealth of glorious McCartney melody. The work's centrepiece, Interlude (Lament), is a deeply moving instrumental tribute to McCartney's late wife Linda.

Featured are the Boys of King's College Choir, Boys of Magdalen College Choir, Academy of St Martin in the Fields, and EMI Debut artist Kate Royal.

前作「リバプールオラトリオ」以上にポールならではの歌心と、さながらフォーレの「レクイエム」のような柔らかな美しさをも合わせ持つ傑作。管弦楽の書方も完全に板につき何の不足も無い立派なクラシカル作品。少なくともポールのファンならば誰もが聴かなければならない価値充分。
