Product Description

Patti Page, the blond singer with a voice as smooth as gossamer, may have been small in stature, but as regards the popularity of her records, stood head and shoulders above her contemporaries.
She was the best-selling female artist of the nineteen-fifties and in a career spanning over sixty years, she sold over one hundred million records. Her first entry into the American Popular Music Charts came on June 26th 1948, Patti’ s version of “Confess” was more popular than that of the combined talents of Doris Day and Buddy Clark. Patti became famous for her over-dubbing.
For example, she sang a duet with herself on “Mockin’ Bird Hill” , a trio with herself on “Mister And Mississippi” and a quartet with herself on “And So To Sleep, Again” , all big hits. On this CD you will find extracts from five of her albums, twenty-seven golden examples of her stylish alto voice.
