オーネット・コールマンゆかりの2人、ベース Charlie Haden とドラムスBilly Higginsと共に、メセニーが作り上げたジャズアルバム。 メンバーを変えながら今後続いていくトリオ・ジャズ・アルバムのはじめの一歩。 Horace SilverのLonely Womanで幕開け、Ornette ColemanのTears Inside、Humpty Dumpty、Rejoicingと、Ornette Coleman愛が溢れているアルバム。 レコードならB面にあたる「The Calling」は10分近く演奏されるフリージャズ、Pat Methenyオリジナルソング。 これが好きとなるか長く感じるかは人によって分かれますけどね。
