Product Description

Either/Or World CD Release Concert West Barnstable singer-songwriter Diana Di Gioia marks the release of her second CD in June of 2012. The CD, Either/Or World features 11 original songs and a host of talented musicians. Musically, the songs are an eclectic offering of acoustic rock, blues, and folk-rock. The song Ptown Pants celebrates a Saturday night stroll down Commercial Street in Provincetown to see and be seen. Other songs draw from Di Gioia's experience growing up in rural Vermont. The title track, Either/Or World celebrates gender non-conformity. The band's name is a reference to Di Gioia coming out as a lesbian at mid-life, a subject dealt with more fully on her first CD, titled Out Late. There's plenty of talent on this CD as well. Di Gioia's band, Out Late, was assembled for this project, from friends in a half dozen local bands. It includes bass player Roe Osborn of Robechez, and also the Bassomatics. Roe, and Phyllis Laudani, who plays spoons, are both from Harwich. Blue Kat Band's Dan St. Pierre of Cotuit jams on blues harmonica. Brewster's Steve Finch of Crabgrass plays lead guitar on two tracks, and Randy Patterson of The Fringe on mandolin, round out the local roster. Talented family members also added their voices, including Diana's wife, Melody Masi, sister, Maura, and brother-in-law, Keith Leon on harmonies. Keith is also featured on electric lead guitar on the title track. So far most of us have only played together in the studio, says Di Gioia, it will be fun to have all of us jamming together on stage on June 9th. Out Late's most common live configuration is as a duo, appearing regularly at the Cape Cod Chat House in Dennis. They've also been featured at Cotuit Center for the Arts Art Barn Songwriter Series, at local festivals such as Brewster in Bloom, at the Chatham UU's Summer Music Series, and at numerous area open mics. The CD was produced by Melody Masi, recorded at Joe's Garage Studio in Sandwich, and engineered and mastered by Jim Miller, of Marstons Mills. Here's a little tidbit of information about each of the songs: Love Found Us Anyway How is it possible that, bumbling around as we do, we still manage to create loving relationships? My Bike and Me For anyone who grew up with all of the outdoors as their backyard Either/Or World This tale of gender non conformity is for anyone who doesn't fit neatly into a box. Rule the Roost We have six hens. Really. Six hens, no roosters. Don't ask our neigbors, though, they don't believe it. Ptown Pants This song is for all my friends in Provincetown, Massachusetts, and for everyone who has ever gone down to Commercial Street on a Saturday night in the summer time to strut their stuff. Long Day This song got itself started in my sleep. Somehow, I'm always cooler when I'm unconscious. Family Scrapbook The honest to goodness true story about growing up in Sutton, Vermont in one particular family. Little Egypt Road A little bit of dirt road between Vermont Rte 5 and Pudding Hill that takes me back in time Sweet Obsession The back up plan for when love bites Being Real Sometimes we fall in love with our eyes open. But if it is just too scary to let yourself know what's happening, it's gonna hit you all at once. Baby, I Believe that You Do I believe I wrote this song in 1942, at a place called Rick's Cafe. I just don't have any photos to prove it.
