The opening concert of the Salzburg Festival, for many regarded as the world’s most renowned music festival, is by tradition a high-profile event. In 2010 the Festival celebrated its 90th anniversary and the 50th anniversary of the Great Festival Hall. Barenboim, in 2010 also celebrated his 60th anniversary onstage, excelled as a soloist and conductor of Beethoven’s lyrical Fourth Piano Concerto. Bruckner´s poignant Te Deum is performed by a quartet of world-class singers: Elina Garanca, Dorothea Roschmann, Franz Josef Selig and Rene Pape.

"Barenboim masterfully conjures up symphonic paintings with a superb, crystalline sense of sonorities [Boulez]". Der Tagesspiegel. "An impressive depiction of the work [Te Deum]" Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. "Barenboim constructs his lyrical part [Beethoven] transparently and with sharp contours. […] The Konzertvereinigung Wiener Staatsopernchor is both heavenly and of this world [Te Deum]". Salzburg 24.

I’ve seen this concert, which is certainly worth both of Beethoven Piano Concerto nº 4 and Bruckner Te Deum. BUT: as for Boulez Notations, they are beyond all bearing! If they were not SANDWICHED placed between Beethoven and Bruckner, either the listeners would have arrived half an hour later, or would have left the concert hall half an hour earlier…
