The opening of Copenhagen’s new concert hall, the spectacular Koncerthuset, was celebrated with a very special project: to present their new home to a broad public the Danish National Symphony Orchestra and its chief conductor Thomas Dausgaard performed four popular works within the classical symphonic tradition, Nielsen’s Symphony No. 3, Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9, Brahms’ Symphony No. 1 and Sibelius’ Symphony No. 5.

Additionally, the performances were filmed on highest standards and with an extensive setup of cameras.

The Danish National Symphony Orchestra, also known as the DR SymfoniOrkestret was founded in 1925 and has been home for some of the world’s most famous conductors. From 2004 until 2011 Thomas Dausgaard was the principal conductor and a large number of international tours and award-winning recordings document the orchestra’s international reputation.

The Koncerthuset with its blue semi-transparent facade was designed by French star architect Jean Nouvel. For the concert hall acoustics was responsible Yasuhisa Toyota from renown Nagata Acoustics. ( C Major )
