Al Kooper has played on countless albums as a session player, perhaps most notably on Dylan's Highway 61 Revisited, while Mike Bloomfield was an exceptional and influential talent whose work can be heard on many essential blues releases. This teaming of these 2 great musicians has gone unreleased on CD in the U.S. until now. Recorded at the Fillmore in '68, Al and Mike are joined by guest stars including Carlos Santana and Elvin Bishop. 2 discs contain the material from the original 2-LP set; packaging features new liner notes and rare photos.

「Sonny Boy Williamson」とＳ＆Ｇのカバー...

「Sonny Boy Williamson」とＳ＆Ｇのカバー「Feelin’ Groovy」は当時シングルカットされた。前者は駆け出しのころのＣ・サンタナがギターを担当。後者はシングルではＢ面だったけど、オリジナルとはかなり違ったブルース調で、マイクのギターのフレーズがすばらしい。Ｇ・カップスもこちらの方をカバーした。「The Weight」はザ・バンドのカバーだが、本作ではインストでやっている。ロック史上に残る名盤であることには間違いない。
