Produced by Heitor Pereira, renowned for his work as a film composer (DESPICABLE ME, IT'S COMPLICATED, FROM PRADA TO NADA) and world-class session guitarist (Sting, Seal, Caetano Veloso), the Brazilian-born, US-based artist shared Melody's enthusiasm for driving off the beaten path of Western pop, jazz, blues and soul. And he was as adventurous as Melody when it came to inventive sonic ideas. DVDセットのDeluxe版を購入しました。前々作から前作、前作から本作と、アルバム・ジャケットの色使いが変化した様に彼女のサウンド・イメージも変化しています。内省的な視点を徐々に外の世界に向けて開放していく。そのプロセスをエキゾチックな楽曲として表現しています。 「Jazz Not Jazz」的なスタンスからもっとポピュラーなフィールドへアーティスト自身が踏み出した手応えを感じながら制作していたことが伝わる素敵な作品になりました。DVDの映像もとても綺麗で楽しめます。

緑の西ヨーロッパから青い地中海を渡り、北アフリカの黄色い乾いた大地から大西洋を渡り熱く赤いスコールの南米へ。 心と体にしみた現地の薫りと、脈々と流れる伝統音楽の潮流を奇をてらわず素直に昇華し、絶妙な間と音量バランスが秀逸なプロデュースによって、微かな懐かしささえ湛えた普遍的な叙情性をまとった見事なアルバム。 熱い夜、ホテルのバーカウンター、冷えたカクテル、汗ばむ女性の肌、自分が現地を旅してきたかのような錯覚に囚われる。秀作。
