Exciting young tenor-saxophonist Meilana Gillard (b.1981, UK) has made it a formidable impression on the jazz scene in NYC since her arrival in early 2003. Her rich tone, melodic sensitivity, and thoughtful compositions have paired her with jazz legend and drummer Charli Persip, as well as the Columbus Symphony, Greg Osby, Joan Osborne, Christian McBride The Diva Jazz Orchestra, and others. Gillard enjoys music that isn't married to any particular genre. She employs every resource available as inspiration for her compositions.
