Metallicaのブラック・アルバム以降、Megadethも同様にスピードに頼らないアルバムを作って来た。 しかし、Metallicaのグルーブ重視のアプローチに対し、Megadethは冷徹なリフを中心とした、オーセンティックなメタルアルバムになっている。

Megadeth最大のヒットアルバムです。私が最初に聞いたMegadethのアルバムはこれでした。最初に聞いた感想は、「何これ、普通のメタルと違う」「変な声」って感じで第一印象は良く無かったです。しかし、何度か聞く内に曲の良さがわかると、ガッツリはまりました。今では少しクセのあるボーカルも大好きです。第一印象が良く無かったのは、作品のクオリティの関係ではなく、私の感性が未熟だっただけです。お勧めのアルバムです。
