70年代にはスティーライ・スパンのメンバーとしても活躍したブリティッシュ・トラッドを代表するギタリスト/シンガーがマーティン・カーシー（1941年生まれ）。フォーク・リバイバル・ムーヴメントが興隆をみせた60年代に登場し、現在まで第一線で活躍しています。このアルバムは彼のファースト・ソロ・アルバム（1965年オリジナル発表）。注目はサイモン＆ガーファンクルの’スカボロ・フェアー’を取り上げている点。ポール・サイモンはロンドンのクラブでこの曲を演奏するマーティンを観て、これを水垢らのレパートリーに加えることを決めたのだとか。これもブリティッシュ・トラッドの記念碑的作品と言えます。

　英国フォークの最重要人物の記念すべきファースト・ソロ（65年作）。魅力は何と言っても歌声。か細い容貌（痩せている上にタレ眉毛＆タレ目だ）からは想像も付かない骨太なバリトン・ヴォイス。ちょっと蓄膿がかった、父性愛に溢れた優しい声は聴いていると本当に安心する。好きなシンガー部門でダントツの１位を記録するのも、これならうなずけるというものだ（私の中で、ですよ）。１曲を除いてすべてトラディショナル。中でもペンタングルでお馴染みの③やヴォーン・ウィリアムズでも有名な⑨がいい感じ。
