About Mark Scott's CD 'Elevator' Former Rich Rags (U.S.) and Inmates front man, folk-turned-hard rocker spans a decades-long arc as a composer, picking among songs he performs as a backdrop/ambient music artist on piano, often with MIDI and/or live accompaniment. The album is naturally more complex and dynamic that it's live counterpart. It is 'New Age' in that it has no vocals but is rock by any other sensibility. Seventeen upbeat piano-based songs (55 minutes) play well while going about life's rich pageantry - or cleaning the house. Not all that keen on self-promotion, permit Mark to use quotes from those who have heard his works and been kind enough to provide feedback: 'After listening to your CD, I feel that this is a collection of mellow tunes just perfect for 'day-dreaming', the kind of music that you can put on and let the troubles of the world just drift away as you kick back and relax.' This album was constructed to be as universally enjoyed as is reasonably possible, with similarity yet diversity between songs. The music is multi-layered, mood-inducing, beautiful, subtle and interesting. It is not your father's 'Easy Listening'. Excellent to enjoy while walking/jogging with your iPod.
