The Silence, lead by Mar's founder Kyle Reidy, features Jimmy LaValle of the Album Leaf, as well as Samuli Kosminen & Gunnar Tynes of Mem. The album was recorded in Reykjavik, Iceland after Sigur Res opened their studio, Sundlaugin, to Mar. Due to falling behind schedule on the recording of their album 'Takk... Sigur Ros kindly made arrangements for Mar to finish recording in Iceland's most prestigious studio, Syrland, where Sigur Res, Bjork, and Emiliana Torinni had all recorded in the past. Produced By Gunnar Tynes of Mem (his first album production), Iceland's Axel Mason, Jimmy LaValle, And Samuli Kosminen. With a beautifully gilded sound, this album escorts the listener on mythical journey through dreams. Mar was Reidy's mother's name. She passed away of cancer in 1999. Even when there were no signs of hope, she dreamed ridiculous dreams. Everyone should dream ridiculous dreams. It's our only chance to do so.
