Though best known for his soul jazz and funk recordings (Alligator Boogaloo and Everything I Play Gonna Be Funky etc), alto saxophonist Lou Donaldson marked his '67 return to Blue Note with his grandest, lushest recording of all. With arrangements by Duke Pearson and all-star nonet featuring the great Wayne Shorter, Lush Life is a lovely, romantic, late night masterpiece.

デューク・ピアソンによるスタンダード編曲集。 なぜか録音時は発売中止になった幻の名盤です。 このメンバーを見てください！何も言うことはないでしょう。（悪いはずがない） しかも普段の演奏が緊張感バリバリ過ぎる反動か、ここでは皆さん何ともくつろいだムーディーな演奏をしてくれて、嬉しくなります。 こーゆーのをやらせたらルーおじさんの右に出るものはいないでしょう。 リラックス＆ゴージャスな大人のジャズ。浸れます。 ジャケットに引かずに買うべし！（爆）
