The proliferation of television talent shows over the past couple of years have shown that, if you can sing, you don’t necessarily have to be an overall winner to succeed. Although Lemar Obika came third in the first series of Fame Academy, this was enough for him to gain a major record deal and a brand new singing career. ‘Dedicated’ is Lemar’s debut set, and it’s an album that squares up his position as one of the UK’s best-ever urban soul voices. However, he hasn’t limited himself to simply pursuing one genre. ‘Dedicated’ cleverly recognises that Obika’s listenership is as diverse as any TV audience. Consequently this is an album that uses soul music as a starting point before leaping off to the pop side of things and all stops in between. このサイトでDonell JonesやJoe、Ruff EndzなどのR&Bアーティストのアルバムを買ってきたが、正直今回ばかりは期待通りとはいかなかった… 英国のR&Bて、POPSぽさがどうも自分には… 上記のアメリカのR&B聞く人にはちと違うって感じると思う

イギリス留学中によく聞いていた。２００３年のBRITISH AWARDのURBAN部門で賞をとった。受賞したときのSPEECHではじめて話したのを聞いたけどヤッパリハスキーでいい声だった。そんなにCOOLな感じじゃなかった。話し方から言って。何の曲か忘れたが、雨の中彼が歌ってるPVはとてもよかった。白黒だったかな。。。
