Limited CD/DVD-A edition includes new stereo mix by Robert Fripp and Steven Wilson plus bonus tracks on the CD and a 5.1 mix and High Resolution Stereo Mix on the DVD Audio.. Digitally re-mastered and expanded 40th Anniversary edition of the Prog/Art-Rock band's classic 1972 album. Following the dissolution of the Islands line-up Robert Fripp decided to assemble a new band to perform the sort of music he'd been hearing in his head over recent months. In the summer of 1972 the line-up of Fripp together with Bill Bruford (late of Yes), John Wetton, Jamie Muir and relative newcomer David Cross was announced, although it was not until September, after first full band rehearsals, that the decision was taken to call the group King Crimson.

　戦慄のLPを購入した。いろんなバージョン...

　戦慄のLPを購入した。いろんなバージョンCDが販売されているが、案外LPの方があっさりしていて良い。学生の頃ちょうど、LPとCDの入れ替えの時期で買わずじまいだっので、正直感激、レーベルもポリドールレーベルからアイランドレーベルになっていた。オリジナルに忠実に再現！！？。

当時、雑誌「音楽専科」主催のロンドン・ツアーがありました。幸運な人はキング・クリムゾンのレインボー・シアターの公演を見たはずです。年明けのマーキー公演に足を運んだ人曰く「メンバーは５人のはずだったけれど、出てきたのは４人で激しい音の飛び交うものだった。ロバート・フリップは樵の様なおっさんだった。知っている曲は”２１世紀～”だけだった。」とのこと。このツアーでは、クリムゾンよりも、ウイッシュボーン・アッシュの方が人気が高く、レインボー・シアターよりもマーキー・クラブへ足を運ぶ人の方が多かったのには隔世の感があります。なお、福島編集長は、今野雄二氏と二人でテムズ川に浮かぶ船「ジョン・ボルドリー号」で催されたエルトン・ジョンの誕生パーティーに参加しました。福島さんお元気ですか？

　一見力の入ったBox Setですが、CD１～９は既発と西新宿界隈では知られたもの。価値のあるのはCD10～15と付録だけという当Set。Live音源もダウンロード可能なレインボーシアター公演が抜けているのもマイナス点。これで後々分売でもされたらさらに星を落としそう。マニア以外はCD＋DVDのSetで十分です。でも、CD12と15を満足できる再生環境で聞ける人はどのぐらいいるのでしょうか？
