Once Upon A Time

Born in Savannah, GA, Kiah Shanice found her calling as a singer/songwriter in Connecticut whose work focuses on love, life, and personal growth. She is an artist with a rich background in performance arts, including dance and violin, and she aspires to incorporate an element of performance into her music. Kiah Shanice wants to bring her fans and listeners on an inspirational journey through love and life and to give us music for the soul that can fit to any occasion, whether it is moments of heartache, happiness, or just relaxing and having a good time. She is inspired by Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Alicia Keys, and Anita Baker. Her music is soulful, entertaining, uplifting, and fun, and the depth and breadth of her style simply sets her apart from other young upcoming artists. She sees herself as an old soul capable of understanding the trials and tribulations of everyday life but also brings a fresh, young, and unique perspective to her music. She wants to provide us with an escape from the ordinary into the extraordinary with her powerful vocals, catchy lyrics, and sassy attitude. In 2009, Kiah Shanice released her first album Once Upon a Time, the first stop on her journey to discovering young love and self-worth. In producing this album, she received help from an array of accomplished individuals including producer Mike Ciro, who has worked with Alicia Keys, Alejandro, and Stephanie Mills, and background vocalist Sarah Devine, who has provided background vocals for Mary J. Blige. Kiah celebrated the release of Once Upon a Time at Keys to the City in New Haven, CT. In her mission to become a successful entertainer, she has been guided by Entertainment Attorney Adrian D. Cranford of Cranford & Associates, P.C., who has represented artists like MC Rakim from Eric B & Rakim and who also served as Musical Director to six-time Grammy Award winner Marvin Winans (of The Winans and father to Mario Winans). Kiah Shanice has performed at the Longwarf car show, opening for Joel Ortiz in New Haven, CT and also at several tastemakers' soul events at Vibz Uptown in Hartford, CT. She has graced the stage of Hot Chocolate Soul at the Bushnell in Hartford, CT and Simbus in Ansonia, where she resides. Kiah Shanice is currently a student attending Housatonic Community College.
