Exodus

Wexford based drummer Kevin Lawlor released his debut album 'Exodus' in October 2012. The model county native features musicians from Ireland and Europe playing on his first album as a bandleader. The album was recorded in Wexford Arts Centre in a self made studio environment conceived by Kevin and the house engineer Ollie Dempsey in January 2012. Calling together musicians that he has worked with a recorded with in recent time the album includes a core trio of Kevin Lawlor (drums), Dave Jones, the celebrated and acclaimed Welsh jazz pianist and Andrew Csibi, one of Irelands busiest double bass players. On two tracks guitar is provided by the hugely successful producer and musician from Helsinki, Finland; Vesa Anttila. Having decided to base himself from his home in Wexford instead of an urban centre where jazz might be more prevalent, Kevin is formally launching himself as a bandleader and composer with the release of 'Exodus'. This is augmented by his work in the local community by establishing himself as the Curator of Jazz at Wexford Arts Centre and the Director of Jazz at County Wexford School of Music. He has also written music for a short film in 2012 by the celebrated filmmaker Eammon Colfer. Kevin has been featured on Dave Jones's 2012 release 'Resonance' that has been received in the UK with much praise and acclaim.
