What The Fire Is

An intensely personal journey through heartbreak and healing, 'what the fire is' explores deeply spiritual themes of suffering, disappointment, arguing with God, and ultimately rebirth, renewal, and peace. Although most of the songs use original lyrics, the influence of Key's spiritual foundation, and sometimes quotations from the Baha'i scriptures, are present throughout the album. A musical departure from Key's debut album, 'Intone,' the sound in 'what the fire is' is more raw, less jazzy, and more indie rock. Key says, 'Darrell Rodgers, a songwriter friend of mine, once told me, 'In songwriting healing happens twice: once when you write the song, and once when someone else hears it and knows they're not alone.' I hope that people will find this music to be healing to their souls.'
