Cold City

Jordan Tanner is an American songwriter, recording artist, and performer based in Austin, Texas. In 2012, Jordan celebrated both the release of his first feature-length film as well as his second solo record. Tanner's voice has at times been compared to Layne Staley and Jeff Buckley. Drawing from various influences in the vast rock genre, his songs are emotive, at times explosive, usually guitar-driven, hook-oriented, and often ambient in nature. Lyrically, universal themes such as death, loss, love, and fear are explored. The title track from the new EP, 'Cold City,' as well as the single, 'Visions of a Girl,' are both expressions of not knowing what path to take. In late 2009, Austin-based indie filmmaker Brandon E. Marshall approached Jordan about playing the lead role in his upcoming film, 'Distances,' a music drama that would be Marshall's first feature-length film as well as Tanner's acting debut. They agreed to work together, and shooting began in February 2010, lasting for several months. Post-production on the film was completed August 2011. Tanner wrote and performed several songs for the film, most notably, 'Defender.' The soundtrack to the film is available on iTunes and CDBaby. As of 2012, Tanner has released two solo records, 'All of the Night' in 2011, and 'Cold City EP' in 2012. This new album was produced by critically-acclaimed producer Rick Beato (Shinedown, Charlie Mars, Needtobreathe) and funded largely in part by a Kickstarter campaign. On both solo albums, Tanner sings and plays all the instruments. Jordan currently lives and performs in Austin, Texas. Tour dates to support the new record are TBD. Past notable tours include playing guitar for the Charleston-based band, The Working Title, opening for such acts as The Fray, Counting Crows, and The Goo Goo Dolls, as well as undertaking several regional solo tours.
