50-60年代にかけて一世を風靡した歌姫、ジョニ・ジェームスの数多いアルバム中でも、最もジャジーな1枚として知られている「AFTER HOURS」が遂にLPTIMEからCD化されました。かつて別の会社からCDで出たことはありますが、LPTIMEならではの紙ジャケット、アナログ盤を思わせるCDレーベルで味わう気分は格別です。メンバーには、シェリー・マンやピート・ジョリー等、西海岸の選りすぐりのミュージシャンが参加。しかも曲目がエロール・ガーナーの(4)、コール・ポーターの(6)、デューク・エリントンの(11)等の極めつけ揃いなのですから、まさにこれはジョニのみならず、女性ジャズ・ボーカルの金字塔といっていいでしょう。この再発を機に、さらに人気が高まりそうです。　(jazzyellより)
