First Transmission

Jon Samuel is a Canadian musician who currently plays in the Juno award winning Wintersleep but has been a member of numerous bands over the years. Samuel began recording his debut solo effort First Transmission. Musically these are a collection of pop songs build on very few chords with scrappy instrumentation and playful vocal harmonies. First Transmission is as focused on the singer/songwriter aspects of making a solo record as it is in adding layers textures to simple arrangements. Lyrically this album give a glimpse into his interests news headlines, film and television dialog, politics and religion. The album title is a reference to SETI scientist who search for signs of intelligent life in space.
