JOPO Bio: If there was ever one born to play music, it is she. An old rock 'n roll soul who carves her songs into the hearts of listeners with a velvet voice, Joanne Polack, known as JOPO, plays to the rhythm of her own heart. Originating from Sudbury, Ontario, the singer songwriter explored the art of music at a young age and has since proved girls can rock! At eight years young, her fingers danced over ivory keys and she fell in love with the universal language of music. By thirteen, JOPO was playing drums and paving the path to a crescendo of talent. As the years flowed, creativity reigned supreme and music savvy soon unfolded; she learned and dominated drums, percussion, guitar, bass, piano and vocals, all with richness and resonance. Drawing inspiration from Neil Young, Johnny Cash, Led Zeppelin, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, Iron Maiden and Motrhead, her influences echoed greatly through her ageless music. Heartfelt and brilliantly original, JOPO's music has brought her to delight audiences across Canada, performing in cities such as Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec, Vancouver Island, and British Columbia. Throughout her spirited career, the multi-instrumentalist has performed on Breakfast Television and has shared the stage with Colin James, Jim Cuddy, Holly McNarland, 54 40, Kevin Hearn (Barenaked Ladies), Danko Jones, The Headstones, John Kay (Steppenwolf), Michael Davis (Rolling Stones), Finger 11 and David Wilcox. Captivating her audience with infectious energy and wholehearted emotion, the rocktress has performed on legendary stages such as Massey Hall, the Toronto and Ottawa Hard Rock Caf, the Big Bop, the Kathedral, Jeff Healey's and the Horseshoe Tavern. Irresistibly drawn to performing, the music marvel has etched her name onto the Sudbury music scene with a fist full of passion. Performing with the likes of Blackwater, an edgy power rock four piece; Swamp Music, a Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute band; her solo/duo acoustic act; and doing music therapy at nursing homes and hospital sites, the pages of her songbook never collect dust. Wanting to offer the world sweet melodies, this fervent beating heart of a musician travels to the edge of the Earth to bare her soul for every performance.
