Product Description

Hi! Welcome to my first album, and Thank You for giving it a listen. Means a lot to me. This is all original stuff that I have written and recorded over several years... by myself. You know when you go down a dark street and you see a house with one dim light in the basement, you think to yourself 'I bet there's a nutbar in there writing a novel or stuffing ships into bottles or something'? I am such a person. With new technology, old rockers like me can build songs one brick at a time, and then inflict them on people like you. Other than some special drum loops by Greg Morrow, (which I arranged) all writing, performance and production is by yours truly. I should warn you that there is a spiritual aspect to some of my material, because I think there's more going on around here than meets the eye. Please take appropriate precautions. Tracks and Liner Notes: 1) Everything 3:56 - In life we have to play the cards we get, whatever it takes. Sometimes the cards suck! It takes incredible courage to live with a disability, either obvious or not. This is for those that face discrimination on top of it. 2) Two Much Java 3:46 - Coffee, the patron saint of hype, is an essential and life affirming fluid. Always have enough. This perky little tune is for those who never can. 3) Sea Yourself 5:02 - There are some places where land and ocean meet that are so beautiful that you find yourself awash in sensation. Rebecca Spit on Quadra Island is one such place, a gorgeous finger of land in the Salish Sea. 4) Heart Of Storms 4:03 - When I was growing up I struggled with faith. I couldn't find God, no matter what I tried. Turns out I was looking in the wrong place. 5) Expecting A Blessing 4:07 - So my sweet niece was seriously expecting. I thought about all the people that already love that unborn child, and what kind of a welcome we all have in our hearts. aka: 'ode to a bump'. A Love-a-Bye. 6) War Child 5:52 - I believe that war plants the seeds for future wars in the children that are subjected to it. To me, that's a war crime. The world is stuck in this vicious cycle and these kids live the consequences. 7) Inner 6:14 - When life turns to hell, and we are faced with terrible events we often feel completely powerless. The one thing no one can take is the way we react. Without faith in ourselves, I think it is harder to face the desperation life sometimes brings with dignity. 8) Thank You God 3:54 - When I was touring (back in the 1900's) I spent a lot of time in nasty motel rooms, bored out of my tree. One time I started looking through the old gideon and was amazed at the descriptive language in genesis. This is about gratitude for good. 9) Mother's Day 4:14 - One thing we use music for is to mark occasions that are meaningful for us. A few years ago, I realized there was no song to celebrate Mother's Day. Now there is. 10) Beverly 5:21 - I wrote this love song for my dear wife Bev, to play when we renewed our wedding vows at the ocean. Love is an ongoing process, and this is our story.
