I gravitate towards the 60's. Both in country music and rock and roll. You will find some 70's and 80's country on my CD's as well. You will also hear some songs you haven't heard before. You will hear some that are done in a different style. A good example is 'Long Black Limousine'. It was record in the late 30's or early 40's by Rose Maddox. My version is patterned after OC Smith's rendition. You will remember OC Smith from 'Hickory Hollers Tramp' fame. This album also includes a couple of songs from Bob Luman. One of the best. 'Let's Think About Livin'' and 'The Great Snowman' are his. It is hard for me to do a CD without including at least one from Merle Haggard. He wrote 'Shelley's Winter Love'. The same can be said of my love of a good Johnny Cash tune. 'Highway Patrolman' is not one of Johnny's more well know tunes. It was written by Bruce Springsteen. It is one of my favorites. Check it out. Could be on your favorite list as well. My records also have to include a song that conveys my love for my wife. Billy Walker's 'When A Man Loves A Woman' is the song that does that for me on this CD. I have to recognize the one that gives me all I need and the one I go to in troubling times and the one I thank when times are good. 'Help Me' was written by Larry Gatlin and Elvis's interpretation is the one that makes sense to me. There are a couple of songs too that will just make you smile. Enjoy.
